概要
In this course, students will analyze the difficulties that language learners encounter in their learning of the English language from different perspectives including the linguistic, psychological, sociological, cultural points of view. Based on the analyses, students will discuss the effective ways to help these learners to achieve their learning objectives. At the same time, students will analyze the difficulties that language teachers will face in their teaching and prepare for their actual teaching practice.
目標
Students will be able to: 1. gain theoretical and practical knowledge about teaching English, 2. know various approaches to teaching English, 3. plan and conduct pedagogically sound lessons, and 4. handle issues that commonly occur in class.
授業外の学習
Students will be expected to read the assignments carefully so that they can participate the in-class discussions actively and reflect on their own learning through writing reaction papers. They will also prepare for microteaching, including handouts, PowerPoint slides, and any other materials needed for microteaching, and provide rationale for their lesson plans based on reading. 【Preparation】(Time required: Approx. 100 minutes for each class) ・Read relevant materials to learn key concepts ・Prepare ideas for class discussion ・Find and develop materials for teaching 【Review】(Time required: Approx. 100 minutes for each class) ・Find and read further materials ・Read classmates' teaching ideas ・Write reaction/reflection papers
