概要

This teacher training course will cover intercultural communication and language education for pre-service English language teachers. The course is divided into four stages: theory, teaching pedagogy, assessment, and presentation. In the first stage, we will introduce the key concepts in intercultural communication studies. Then, we will explore the main theories and teaching methods related to intercultural transitions, intercultural competence, global citizenship, and nonverbal communication. Additionally, intercultural communicative competence and competences for democratic culture are assessed through the writing of the Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE). Finally, the final presentation provides students with an opportunity to reflect on their intercultural encounters and mock teaching. The course will include activities such as lectures, readings, videos, group discussions, writing, and group presentations. The teaching pedagogy used is CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and intercultural language teaching. Students are required to complete pre- and post-questionnaires on intercultural competence and competences for democratic culture. This course will aid students in studying abroad, working in global companies, and teaching intercultural communication. International students are also welcome to take this course.

目標

At the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Describe major theories of intercultural communication and language education. 2. Reflect on personal intercultural experiences in everyday life. 3. Develop and assess intercultural communicative competence and competences for democratic culture. 4. Develop academic skills in reading, discussion, writing, presentation, critical analysis and research. 5. Work collaboratively in a group to produce an oral presentation.

At least 190 minutes of reading and preview: Read one book chapter (15-20 pages; 1.5-2 hours); Watch online videos (10 minutes); Answer quizzes or worksheets on Moodle (20 minutes).
