概要
In this class we will read and study Maurice. The class will be based on homework reading and classroom discussion of topics related to the text. This text will be treated as an introduction to the work of Terry Pratchett generally and to the effect he has had on British fiction. We will also consider the question of why Terry Pratchett has not become popular in Japan.
目標
To study the set text from a variety of perspectives including stylistic analysis, humour, intertextuality, story as a model for life. To develop discussion and research skills in relation to the text. To improve general English ability, and the ability to engage critically with texts from popular fiction.
