概要
This student-centred seminar is all about language, specifically focusing on the social aspects of language use. Topics will be selected based on current issues and student preference. Topics include; Digital Culture, Language and Identity. As part of the course you will be required to write regular short reports on research tasks, as well as forum posts, finally completing a writing portfolio of all the writing produced during the course.
目標
This subject aims to develop students’ English skills while also discovering about the way languages are learned and taught. Students will conduct readings and choose topics based around their interest in the field, and be expected to participate actively in the discussions for each class.
授業外の学習
Students will be expected to deepen their knowledge of their chosen topic in preparation for the essay. This will involve doing wider reading and research, as well as collaborating with group members. Reading is an important part of the course in preparing for the seminar classes. Furthermore, you will become a research assistant for the teacher, and will often be asked to make observations and report back to the class.

- Digital Culture and Language: Definitions, examining important concepts within sociolinguistics related to digital culture.
