概要
Students focus on the relationship of a range of different art forms to society, politics, culture and history. We also consider how the arts reflect and contribute to our immediate physical, social and political environments with a special emphasis on environmentalism and human rights. Supported by reference to Post War movements in art and culture, and through research workshops, students study concepts relating to relevant creative expression and use this knowledge to present projects about art & context during the semester with a special emphasis on artists tackling global issues. Focus Areas: • Traditional Visual Arts: Painting / Printmaking / Sculpture / Photography • New Fine Art Media: Installation / Video / Sound / New Technologies • The Moving Image: Feature Films / Shorts / Documentary Films / TV Series • Music: Genres / Songwriting / Music Video • Writing: Literature / Academic / Fiction / Sociology / Philosophy, Politics, Journalism Expanded Contexts: Language, Literature, Culture, History, Theology, Sociology, Philosophy, Politics Associated Disciplines: Education, Community Interaction, Therapy, Environment, Design, Fashion, Reportage, Advertising
目標
As a CLIL course students develop the following English language skills: listening and note taking, reading, writing, seminar participation, debate and presentation in reference to the target content area. There is a special emphasis on developing the ability to communicate about abstract concepts and to develop specific vocabulary and terminology appropriate for art discourse. Students will also improve descriptive language skills and the ability to logically deconstruct. Additional Objectives are: • To practice & develop planning and oral skills to give prepared speeches. • To practice & develop individual and group public speaking skills. • To demonstrate & improve active listening skills for interaction. • To interact effectively in small groups to complete assignments. • To successfully learn and understand the criteria for giving a successful presentation to an audience.
授業外の学習
Students are expected to complete all homework assignments and to contribute continually outside class by inputting requested submission to the Moodle Forum Thread to facilitate active group learning. The purpose of the forum thread is two-fold: to either provide an opportunity for students to actively prepare and publish prior to class activities or to consolidate and confirm learning post class. All presentation multimedia is to be converted to PDF format and uploaded for assessment purposes.
