概要

This course introduces the theory and practice of social research methodologies, with a particular focus on youth. It will provide students with the tools and techniques of social research in order to understand, describe and explain contemporary social issues affecting young people. Additionally, students will be encouraged to engage with key epistemological and ethical debates that surround social science research generally, and youth methodologies in particular.

By the end of this course students will: 1. have a deepened understanding of key approaches in youth research 2. have experienced 'first hand' the connection between research and the construction of knowledge 3. be practiced in all areas of the research process from design and sampling, data collection, analysis to writing up results 3. be able to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skill to a range of youth-related topics
