概要
This student-centred class is all about language, specifically focusing on the psychological aspects of language learning and use. We will examine a range of theories related to psycholinguistics and discuss how language exists in the mind. As part of the course, you will be required to produce a written portfolio in English about aspects of language covered in the course. You will also conduct multiple short research tasks and lead discussions as part of the output sessions, which count towards assessment. Summaries of these must be posted in the Moodle Forum to get your grade
目標
This subject aims to develop students’ English skills while also discovering about the way languages are learned and taught. We will examine various linguistic theories and gain a better understanding of the concepts that surround language acquisition. Classes will be arranged as either teacher-led input sessions or student-led output sessions in which the students manage the discussion and give interactive, informative presentations of their research tasks and conduct groupwork in an active learning environment.
授業外の学習
Students will be expected to deepen their knowledge of their chosen topic in preparation for the essay and output-session. This will involve doing wider reading and research, as well as collaborating with group members. Reading is an important part of the course in preparing for the seminar classes.
