DISCUSSION & PRESENTATION 1*

概要

We will discuss various works of literature throughout the course. Often, students will choose their own works to discuss. Students will lead a discussion about literature and give mini-presentations, individual and group presentations in English in front of the class as part of assessment. Also, general speaking as part of class will be assessed in the form of classroom participation. Therefore, attendance and daily participation are essential to the course.

目標

The class is designed to help students improve their speaking skills and to practice speaking about literature. Speaking skills are broken into three categories: • Conversation: speaking on topics for the sake of speaking on those topics. • Discussion: Speaking with specific aims, i.e. in order to answer a general question • Presentation: Speaking to an audience.

授業外の学習

For each class you will be asked to do some research as homework or to prepare for the next class by doing a task. All handouts for class will be posted on Moodle one week before the lesson. Students are responsible for printing the handout and reading through the material before each class.
