概要

This course is an introductory overview of research integrity in the international higher education context. It addresses both the significant components and emerging challenges in higher education in Japan and other nations. The content of the course is organized with higher education topics in historical and contemporary contexts simultaneously.

目標

The outcomes sought for students taking the course include the following: • Basic knowledge of the system of higher education in Japan; • Basic knowledge of the Japanese higher education history; • Basic knowledge of higher education and research; • Basic knowledge of the research integrity to conduct research; • Perspectives on contemporary research integrity issues in Japan and other nations; • A critical perspective on the higher education literature and related research guidelines from around the world.

授業外の学習

Readings for each class session are assigned and should be completed prior to the class participation. Students are expected to arrive in class prepared for discussion, with all assigned readings completed. In each class, students will have interactive discussion opportunities to share their ideas and thoughts with classmates and the instructor.
