概要

In this course, students read selected articles, watch video lecures, and participate in online discussion forums and other activities. As a part of this course, students will have opportunities to join in special guest lectures taught by specialists in this field. This course is designed for students interested in cultural revitalization, community building, and contemporary topics that Indigenous peoples today face. In this course, students will develop ideas on cultural revitalization and community (re)building by learning about cases of Indigenous peoples in North America and a part of the Pacific islands, focusing on topics in the U.S. territory. Many articles selected for reading assignments in this course are written by Indigenous writers, researchers, and activists. All materials used for this course are in English. Although students learning English are welcome to take this course, they need to have enough English proficiency in reading academic articles and writing academic papers. The content or schedule of this course might be modified based on students' interests and/or other reasons. All changes to this course will be announced on the Moodle page.
