概要

Students will be able to study academic subjects in a structured way at an undergraduate level. A CLIL approach will be employed so that students can learn the basic knowledge of the subject and the specialist language used in the subject in English. この科目群では,アカデミックな科目を体系的に英語で学びます。内容言語統合型学習(CLIL)を用い,科目の基本的な内容やその分野で使用される専門用語,学問分野を英語で身につける方法について学びます。 On this course, you will learn about Japan through the subject of History. You will be able to widen your horizons and analyse and discuss aspects of Japanese History in English. You will also be able to become proficient in explaining about Japan from a historical perspective. このコースは歴史を通して日本について学びます。英語で日本の歴史を学ぶことで視野を広げ,日本史について英語でも説明できるようになるための入門コースです。 This course takes a "learning by teaching" approach. In the first part of the course, students will experience CLIL lessons taught by the instructor. The lessons will combine the learning of English with the learning of Japanese history. Then, in the second part of the course, students (in groups) will design and deliver a CLIL lesson about any topic related to Japanese history. Thus, students will not only learn from the instructor but also from each other, as well as from teaching Japanese history to others. Prior experience of CLIL teaching is not necessary to take the course. Students will learn how to design and deliver a CLIL lesson through examples and teaching/learning theory. Japanese history topics that will be taught by the instructor may change depending on students' interests and progress.

By the end of this course, students will be able to... - Understand and interpret historical sources. - Hypothesize and deduce from historical sources. - Connect historical knowledge to present-day issues. - Learn English vocabulary related to doing Japanese history. - Analyze how CLIL lessons are designed to support the learning of Japanese history and English. - Design a critically stimulating and motivating CLIL lesson about Japanese history. - Reflect on what they have learned in terms of Japanese history, English, being a teacher, learner, and human being.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 - Students will complete reflections tasks after each class to synthesize what they have learned. - Students will conduct research and design a CLIL lesson about Japanese history.
