概要

Students will be able to study academic subjects in a structured way at an undergraduate level. A CLIL approach will be employed so that students can learn the basic knowledge of the subject and the specialist language used in the subject in English. この科目群では,アカデミックな科目を体系的に英語で学びます。内容言語統合型学習(CLIL)を用い,科目の基本的な内容やその分野で使用される専門用語,学問分野を英語で身につける方法について学びます。 On this course, you will learn about how culture is defined as an academic subject. Drawing on some topics related to cultures, this introductory course provides an accessible and engaging introduction to the study of cultures in different contexts. このコースは文化とは何かを学問的に定義し,関連トピックをわかりやすい英語で紹介する入門コースです。 Britannica Encyclopedia defines cultural studies, as an “interdisciplinary field concerned with the role of social institutions in the shaping of culture.” This CLIL class helps you to better understand culture while focusing on one part of cultural studies considering environmental issues and cultural issues. Our values, ideas, and behavior as culture influence our environment, and vice versa. Our cultural traditions used to help us to live in balance with nature, but present values, ideas, and behaviors as culture can destroy our environments. Therefore, we should explore how our present culture influences nature. Also, the destruction of nature is so serious that all people in the world should learn about the relationship between culture and environment in order to make our world a better place. It is true especially because in this globalized world, people can easily influence others and their environments in other areas. As for active learning, students are engaged in discussions and short presentations. Through the study of cultural and environmental issues, students are expected to gain knowledge and skills to be world citizens in this globalized world. In this CLIL approach, cooperative learning (group work and pair work) is employed and students can improve their English, and academic and cognitive skills as they learn about culture with a focus on global issues.
