概要

Students will be able to study academic subjects in a structured way at an undergraduate level. A CLIL approach will be employed so that students can learn the basic knowledge of the subject and the specialist language used in the subject in English. この科目群では,アカデミックな科目を体系的に英語で学びます。内容言語統合型学習(CLIL)を用い,科目の基本的な内容やその分野で使用される専門用語,学問分野を英語で身につける方法について学びます。 On this course, you will learn about how History is defined as an academic subject. Drawing on some topics related to History, this introductory course provides an accessible and engaging introduction to the study to the subject. このコースは歴史学とは何かを学問的に定義し,関連トピックをわかりやすい英語で紹介する入門コースです。 Ken Saro-Wiwa (1941-1995) was a Nigerian writer and environmental activist. He fought against the government and the petroleum company to protect the Ogoni people and their land. Centering on his life, this course offers you an opportunity to get a glimpse of a history of Nigeria. Also, reading several primary and secondary sources, you are going to think about the change Ken Saro-Wiwa demanded and the impact he has made on Nigeria and beyond.

目標

You will acquire the study-skills in English to 1) read, summarize and analyze academic articles 2) understand the background of historical events 3) expand vocabulary 4) make thorough research by accessing reliable sources 5) express and explain your thoughts and opinions logically and clearly

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 You need to read/watch study materials and work on worksheets in advance. Although you have time to work on your assignments in class, you are expected to work on most parts of them at home.
