概要
Students will be able to study academic subjects in a structured way at an undergraduate level. A CLIL approach will be employed so that students can learn the basic knowledge of the subject and the specialist language used in the subject in English. この科目群では,アカデミックな科目を体系的に英語で学びます。内容言語統合型学習(CLIL)を用い,科目の基本的な内容やその分野で使用される専門用語,学問分野を英語で身につける方法について学びます。 On this course, you will first learn how Literature is defined as an academic subject. Drawing on some literary works, this introductory course provides an accessible and engaging introduction to the study of different texts written in English or translations of literary works in English. このコースはアカデミックな観点から文学とは何かを定義し,様々な英語の文学作品や翻訳作品をわかりやすく紹介する入門コースです。 On this course, students will come to appreciate Haruki Murakami as important Japanese writer of the modern period. Haruki Murakami is a writer who is able to blend both Japanese and Western popular cultures, who might well be thought of as a global writer. We shall read one his works in English and discuss our reactions to his writings, thinking particularly about how he blends both Japanese and Western mythologies and styles. To aid us with the readings, we will also learn some basic vocabulary for discussing literature and some techniques that can be used to appreciate literary texts. In addition to the lectures, we will have time to do readings and hold discussions about the impact of Western culture upon Murakami and his texts.
目標
We will learn how to discuss about literature. We will learn how one of modern Japan's most notable writers blends Japanese and Western culture. We will acquire knowledge about his biography and works. We will approach an interpretation of some of his selected works, particularly Kafka on the Shore.
授業外の学習
Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 Students are expected to make notes and review the course work after class. Students will need to prepare for the next class by doing the assigned homework and by reading the assigned texts.
