概要

The primary purpose of this course is to help students become aware that among the various issues of the world, there are those they can see and others they cannot and that even those issues they can see have aspects they are not aware of. What one sees and does not see depends on one's position in society and the perspective through which one views the world. To think about, understand, and tackle an issue, one must be aware of one's own "positionality" and see the need for a multifaceted perspective and approach. This course will be offered as an omnibus course in an on-demand format. First, we will consider our individual identities and "positionalities," and then the lecturers will discuss a single issue (this year's issue is "environment") from their specialized fields and consider the possibility of combining various approaches. Although this is an introductory course for "Knowledge Development and Exploration," students will also acquire the necessary perspectives useful for specialized studies in their departments and not just for courses on the 200 level and beyond in "Knowledge Development and Exploration." The same perspectives will also set the foundation for students to be open to new learning even after graduation. Students are required to complete the assigned reading materials and/or watch preparatory videos before watching the lecture videos. As part of active learning experience, students will take a confirmation quiz and submit a reaction paper for reflection after viewing the lecture videos. Additionally, students will write a short report once during the semester and engage in peer reviews of reports submitted by their peers. At the end of the semester, students will submit a paper confirming their achievement of the learning objectives. The paper assignments will be posted on Moodle.
