OVERVIEW OF DATA SCIENCE【C Block】

概要

In the current society, we are facing a rapid development of digitalization and globalization, resulting in big changes in social and industrial structures. As a consequence, data science is becoming an increasingly important part of our daily lives. In this course, we will understand more about the concept of data science and how we can utilize any data available around us. In addition, introductory skills to analyze data will also be covered. Legal and ethical issues are also discussed, including data related to an individual's personal information. This course is not an introduction on how to become data scientists. Rather, it is an overview of data science and triggering awareness of it in our current society.

目標

By the end of the semester, students will be familiar with many of the basics on data science. Especially, 1. Understanding how data can be utilized and exploring how AI is used in our society; 2. Acquiring basic skills on data literacy; and 3. Understanding legal and ethical issues related to data and AI.

授業外の学習

1) The skills that students learn will be needed in future classes. For this, 80-min. preparation is required. Please check the syllabus and the Moodle course, and based on each topic, students should prepare for the next class. 2) They are requested to review the contents of each lecture at home (110 min.). By using the handouts and/or your notes taken during each lecture, review the contents before the next class.
