概要
We will focus on various issues of instructed second language acquisition in this course, with the ultimate purpose of illuminating both problems and solutions of language teaching in Japan. There will be many presentations and discussions throughout the course. Students are expected to have taken my SLA 1&2 or are concurrently enrolled in them this year to take this class.
目標
The purpose of this course is to deepen your understanding of issues in Instructed Second Language Acquisition (SLA) through discussions based mainly on student presentations.
授業外の学習
Students will have to: (1) read the article(s) for the day before the designated date (if it is assigned to them for presentation) or after it (if it is not assigned to them) and prepare a PowerPoint presentation to give online (for your assigned presentation); (2) conduct an independent research and prepare for their research proposal presentation to be given in July; and (3) write up a research proposal on your chosen topic and turn it in by the set deadline.
