概要
This course will explore some movies of contemporary Japanese film directors (Naomi Kawase, Koreeda Hirokazu et. al.) in comparison with their German counterparts, especially those of the "Berlin school" ("Berliner Schule", German New Wave) of film directors like Maren Ade, Christian Petzold and the East German director Andreas Dresen. We will analyze the technical, symbolic and narrative structures in these films und focus on the question, how the German and Japanese societies are described in these films.
目標
The participants shall develop a deeper understanding in regard to the technical, symbolic and narrative structures of film in general and of the contemporary "women's cinema" in Japan and Germany in special.
