SEMINAR(NORTH AMERICAN HISTORY)2

概要

Students will conduct their own research projects, applying the scope and methods they learned during the spring semester. The semester will be devoted to student writings, presentations, peer readings and discussions on student drafts in two to three stages so that every student completes his/her academic paper (graduation theses for the graduating students) by the end of the semester. Students are encouraged to take the seminar for two years (adding another year of study abroad if students choose to do so) so that they can complete their graduation theses as the culmination of their undergraduate studies. 春学期に学んだ方法論を,各自選んだテーマで秋学期に実践し,アカデミック・ペーパー(ゼミ論,卒論)を仕上げます。留学予定者を含め,3年次より(留学期間を含めて)2年間履修し,各自のテーマに沿った資料収集,分析を進めてそれぞれの研究を深めることを推奨します。 テーマの選定,資料リスト(文献とmaterial cultureの一次資料,二次資料),thesis,アウトライン,執筆のプロセスにおいて,プレゼンテーション,クラス討議を織り込み,ゼミ内で切磋琢磨するプロセスを大切にします。 受講生の関心を考慮して副読本を選び,授業前半で必要に応じて輪読します。 秋学期を通して,3年次は卒論準備として5000ワード,４，５年次は10000ワードの研究論文を執筆します。ゼミで読み合わせを行いながら,段階を踏んで完成させていきます。毎回ディスカッションを中心に進めます。ドラフトの読み合わせについては,春学期同様Google document等を活用していく予定です。

目標

Develop students' research skills of their own research project Learn the fundamental methodology in historical research, including the methodology of material culture studies マテリアル・カルチャーを含むアメリカ史研究方法論を, 各自が選んだテーマの研究に実践的に運用する基礎力を養い,批判的思考力を深める。

授業外の学習

予習・復習,それぞれのトピックについてのリサーチを進め(100分),ドラフトを執筆し,推敲,書き直しを重ねて,ゼミ論もしくは卒論としてまとめること(90分)。 conducting research, reading, drafting papers on the individual research topics
