SEMINAR (GLOBALIZATION AND MIGRATION) 2

概要

This seminar examines and compares the motives, processes and experiences of those people/commodities/skills/knowledge that moved across borders. Through examinations of various migrations and movements, we will discuss the causes, backgrounds and factors that have created and promoted globalization in the 19th and 20th centuries, and their influences on local societies. In this semester, students are to improve the necessary skills to write a senior thesis by attending lectures, and also by reading their classmates' papers to give comments and suggestions. As a final project, those students who are not graduating this year will write a 3,000-word seminar paper. Students graduating this year will complete their senior theses (10,000 words) by the first week of December. Active participation in group activities (discussion, peer-reading, presentation) is necessary. All the information including the one in the first class will be distributed via MOODLE. *講義は原則として英語で行いますが,内容によっては日本語も使用。 *英語学科以外の学生は日本語での論文執筆も可能。

目標

To write a seminar paper (6,000 words) or senior thesis (10,000 words) in English or Japanese.
