SEMINAR (GLOBALIZATION AND MIGRATION) 1

概要

This seminar examines and compares the motives, processes and experiences of those people/commodities/skills/knowledge/culture that moved beyond borders. Through examinations of various migrations and movements, we will discuss causes, backgrounds, and factors that have created and promoted globalization in modern history, and their influences on local societies. In the spring semester, students are required to read a book chapter or an article followed by a student's 20-minute presentation. In addition, the students will start an individual research project, which will be expected to be developed into a senior thesis. Also, in this term, we will have a joint seminar with the students from Shizuoka Prefectural University. 1. To enchance academic debate, presentation, reading and writing skills 2. To acquire research skills (including fieldwork and interviews) to write a senior thesis
