概要

This course examines American women's history from the antebellum era to the present. The course considers the changing relationship of gender, race, ethnicity, class and women's experiences in each historical context. Each class consists of lecture, presentation and discussions based on readings of scholarly monographs, primary sources and video screenings. Chronologically speaking, this course is a sequence to American Women's History 1; yet each course may be taken separately in whatever order the student prefers and neither is the prerequisite of the other.

目標

The course objective is to develop students' critical thinking skills through readings, presentations and discussions of academic monographs and historical documents.

授業外の学習

Students are required to study 190 minutes outside of class to prepare and review classes by skimming through assigned readings and responding to class presentation and discussions. For each class, students are expected to read the assigned readings before coming to class (100 minutes) and review the topic, develop their own question and make a critical analysis after class (90 minutes).
