概要
In this seminar students will be required to read extensively about topics that interest them within the field of sociolinguistics. Building upon their reading, students will be required to collect a small amount of their own data, present it to the class and prepare a research paper summarizing their findings.
目標
By the end of this course students should have gained: 1) an overview of the key topics in sociolinguistics research 2) familiarity with different types of qualitative research methodology 3) knowledge and practical skills on how to conduct their own research projects 4) the foundations necessary to write a graduation thesis
授業外の学習
1) Read and be prepared to discuss one assigned reading(book chapter or journal article) per week 2) Research your own topic in depth and collect some data 3) Prepare a class presentation of your research findings 4) Preapre a report based on your research findings including feedback from your presentation
