概要
In this seminar students will be required to read extensively about a variety of topics relating to language, society and communication, and conduct a small piece of research on a topic of their own choice. Building upon their extensive reading, students will be required to conduct an extensive literature review and prepare a research paper summarizing their findings. * EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT SURE WHETHER YOU WILL TAKE THIS COURSE, PLEASE JOIN THE COURSE MOODLE PAGE (SEARCH UNDER MY NAME) BEFORE CLASSES START.
目標
By the end of this course students should have gained: 1) an overview of the key topics in sociolinguistics research 2) familiarity with different types of qualitative research methodology 3) knowledge and practical skills on how to conduct their own research projects 4) the foundations necessary to write a graduation thesis
授業外の学習
1) Read and be prepared to discuss one assigned reading(book chapter or journal article) per week 2) Research your own topic in depth and collect some data if possible 3) Prepare a report based on your research findings including feedback from your presentation
