概要
Following SLA 1, this course provides a general survey in the studies of second language acquisition. We will consider important SLA facts, theories, pedagogic proposals for classroom teaching applications, and relevant empirical research findings. In particular, this semester we will read and discuss issues in psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic approaches to SLA, factors influencing individual variation in SLA, including motivation, language aptitude, and starting ages of learning, and second language instruction. There will be lectures and many discussions on various topics in SLA throughout the course.
目標
Students will deepen their understanding of the complex and intriguing processes of second language acquisition. They are expected to apply the knowledge and insights thus gained to their own learning and/or teaching of a second language.
