概要

In this class most students will be working on preparing their own graduation thesis film. Some students may not be enrolled to make a thesis film, but in that case they should make a significant contribution to another student's film in order to pass the class. In the majority of cases you will be adapting a short story (perhaps a British short story, but this is not absolutely necessary) into a Japanese language film.

目標

Students will learn all the basic skills involved in producing and directing films, through actually working on their own project or other students' films. Since film is a very collaborative art and craft, you will be expected to contribute to other students's films and work together.

授業外の学習

A lot of the work outside class will involve writing your scripts (and rewriting and rewriting) and then preparing for the shoot. The final shoot usually lasts two to three days.

教科書

Women Make Movies by Marc Cousins (This is not a book but a DVD series that you may be able to access online. I recommend everyone buy and watch this - it is the best film school material I know.
