ENGLISH SKILLS B-2【Hｸﾞﾙ-ﾌﾟ】*

概要

During this semester, students will do one group presentation and one individual presentation. After the first group presentation, students are expected to submit one-paragraph response. As this is the final semester of English Skills course, students are expected to make a 30-minute individual presentation with power point slides(including 20 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of question and answer time) in their fields of study. In order to make their presentations convincing, students will conduct library research, read materials, and brainstorm the presentation to make a persuasive, strong argument with appropriate evidences. A list of references must be included in the end of their presentation. The whole class will have one opportunity to do Ted-Talk P&D. The class will provide peer evaluations to the presenters, and the presenter will write a one-page self-evaluation essay at the end of the semester after reading peer comments. As was done in English Skills B-1, the course format will be face-to-face and will use Moodle as the main platform where class materials and links of the recordings will be uploaded. For the First Day of Class, please do not forget to bring your book (the book you read for summer assignment) so that you can show it to class when you speak about it. **Students wishing to retake this course are required to email the instructor before the first class.

目標

As a sequence to English Skills B-1, the purpose of this course is to improve and develop students' four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) of English proficiency even further. Another objective would be to inspire students to think about their fields of study and encourage them to begin preparations for the study in their junior and senior years.

授業外の学習

Students are expected to study in average 2 hours every week outside class to prepare and review each class, including brainstorming, research and reading (70 minutes), shaping the argument, and praciticing presentations (50 minutes).
