ENGLISH COMPOSITION A-1【Hｸﾞﾙ-ﾌﾟ】

概要

* Students wishing to retake this course are required to email the instructor before the first class. This course will focus on academic writing skills and concepts, moving from the paragraph to the five-paragraph essay. Different essay genres will be introduced, and may include the reaction and the cause-effect essay. Students will become familiar with the multi-step writing process (brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing). Through peer editing, self-reflections, and teacher feedback, students will become better able to identify their patterns in writing and strengthen their writing skills. Active learning will be another element of this class, experienced through discussions, pair/group work, and reflections. Critical thinking skills will also be emphasized.

目標

to become familiar with the elements and process of academic writing; to be able to give feedback to others and reflect upon one`s own writing; to become proficient in writing different kinds of academic essays.
