ENGLISH SKILLS A-1【Eｸﾞﾙ-ﾌﾟ】*

概要

* Students wishing to retake this course are required to email the instructor before the first class. This course seeks to improve students` English skills through a topic-based and integrated skills approach. Topics may include current events, gender, propaganda/media, ethics, and culture/race issues. Themes will be introduced through readings, news articles, TED talks, and film. Specific speaking skills to be addressed in conjunction with these topics include participating in and leading discussions, and giving presentations. Through these active learning tasks, critical thinking skills will also be developed. In addition, reading (extensive), writing (summary/reflections), and listening skills will be developed. Finally, increasing vocabulary will be another goal of this class.

授業外の学習

Students will need to prepare for class through a variety of activities which may include reading, writing, note-taking, listening tasks, and self-study. There will be a summer reading assignment.
