ENGLISH SKILLS A-1【Dｸﾞﾙ-ﾌﾟ】*

概要

This course is designed to refine your four English skills (i.e., reading, writing, speaking, listening) through various individual as well as group activities including discussions, debates, skits, and academic paper writing. Active class participation is vital and is expected in this course. The first semester will concentrate on building your skills repertoire through extensive reading and listening, gaining abundant input; the second semester will focus on producing output via your own work based on what you have learned earlier. * Students wishing to retake this course are required to email the instructor before the first class.

目標

The objectives of the course are (i) to help the students to enhance their existing language knowledge and language ability (ii) to enable the students to develop all four language skills, especially their reading and writing skills (iii) to acquire research and collaboration skills (iv) to acquire critical thinking skills.

授業外の学習

Online journal writing (10-20 min/day). Searching and reading extra materials. Vocabulary journaling (1 hr/day) . Writing and proofreading. Possibly meeting with group members to do extra preparation work.
