ENGLISH SKILLS A-1【Bｸﾞﾙ-ﾌﾟ】*

概要

The goal for this course is for students to improve their English level in all four areas: Speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Particular emphasis will be placed on speaking skills and students will learn to become confident speakers of English. In terms of content, we will focus on topics related to gender and sexuality. Active learning will be incorporated through small group discussions, pair-work, and submission of reaction papers. * Students wishing to retake this course are required to email the instructor before the first class.

授業外の学習

Each student will write a 5-minute speech, memorize it, present it in Toastmasters style. Students will experience impromptu speaking and how to give an evaluative speech. Students will learn how to do a formal debate in teams on controversial topics. Students will learn how to research topics to provide evidence for their arguments.
