概要
This course is designed for students who want to experience hands-on business problem solving and international collaboration. The course is jointly organized with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, or CUHK, Business School. This is a project-based course. Students will form Sophia-CUHK combined groups and tackle real-world problems in global business. The course consists of group work, lectures, field trips, and a final presentation. A real-world business problem will be presented at the beginning of the course. Groups of students will study and attempt to solve the problem. Supplementary lectures by professors from both Sophia and CUHK will provide the theoretical perspective of strategic management and international business. Based on the research topic, some site visits will be planned both in Hong Kong and Tokyo. In the middle of the course and on the last day, students are required to present the results of their group projects, including their findings, analysis, suggestions, and future plans. The course language is English, and students are expected to have a certain level of fluency in the language. Before enrolling in the course, students will be screened based on their application materials. There is no quota for the number of students, but it may be possible to adjust the class size to match the number of CUHK students. Once registered, no cancellations will be accepted. For details on screening and registration, please see the Loyola bulletin board.
目標
One of the main objectives of the course is to provide students with practical knowledge of global business practices through lectures and site visits. Building a solid foundation of intellectual skills, including data analysis, planning, debate and discussion, is another key objective. Group project experience in an international context is also an important goal of the course. By the end of the course, students should be able to identify key components of frontline global business issues, synthesize robust business plans for real-world problems, work with diverse colleagues in global settings, and deliver a presentation.
