経営英語(Business Communication Strategy)

概要

This class will focus on the learning, practicing, speaking, and understanding of English in a business setting. It will introduce you to different business concepts and how to communicate in the international business world. An emphasis will be placed on the ways we communicate, such as writing emails, papers, and public speaking. The class will also help strengthen your professional development and make you a better job applicant. It will follow the career path of a job applicant - from the job search phase to working at a company.

目標

In this class, we will work on your professional development in terms of writing and speaking skills. There will be several projects relating to business writing and different business presentations in English. Students will be asked to read, write, and discuss business topics and business news in class. It is my goal that during the class, you will develop the confidence to speak English well in a business environment.

授業外の学習

Assignments will cover areas such as writing resumes in English and putting together speeches and case studies related to business. The main class project will be finding a company/industry you wish to work for, creating a cover letter and resume in English, having a practice job interview in class, and finally presenting on a problem that an industry is currently experiencing.
