概要

This course introduces students to empirical economic studies and also reviews the key concepts in microeconomics. In the first class, we will choose several books to read from a list of books on empirical studies in economics that are readable for non-experts, and a couple of chapters from the chosen books will be assigned to each student. Each student will present the assigned chapter in class, followed by the class discussion. All students must read the chapter before the presentation to prepare for the discussion. Additionally, to understand microeconomic concepts better, students will be assigned a vignette from a textbook “Economics is everywhere” and present the vignette and the solution to the vignette question in class. This course intends to enable students to provide students with the opportunity for group discussions and group learning so that they acquire the communication skills necessary to enable problem solving in cooperation with others.
