概要
The Asian economy is multifaceted, comprised of several poorest, many poor, and a few rich countries in the world that have built up wealth through different development paths under complex and continuously changing regional and international environments. This lecture aims to provide a basic understanding of the different economic development strategies, achievements, and challenges facing Asian countries. Economic development in Asian countries will be discussed in relation to various topics, i.e., globalization, industrialization, regional economic integration, sustainable development, and urbanization. Although the main focus is on the East and Southeast Asian countries, the lecture will also cover, to a varying extent, those in South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
