概要

This class is designed to introduce students to basic concepts and analysis of microeconomics. Microeconomics examines the decision-making process of individuals and their interaction in the market. In this course we focus on buyers (consumers) and sellers (firms/producers) in perfectly competitive markets and study how the market forces of supply and demand determine prices. Students will also learn the sense in which market economies are efficient. Students acquire fundamental knowledge of economic theory in this course.

目標

Students will be able to: - explain the basic concepts of microeconomics, such as gains from trade, demand- and supply-curves, market equilibrium, and surplus. - understand how the demand- and supply curves shift in response to various external changes and how that affects the market equilibrium and the surplus. - explain the effects of monopoly and government policies.
