Each student will submit a 6-7minute PPT on a business topic of their choice, and present live in Zoom (40%). High grade students are not only expected to access Moodle actively, completing all module tasks on time, and posting actively in discussion forums, but show evidence of integrating course concepts and newly acquired knowledge in their work. Plagiarism and AI-created content are not acceptable and will be graded "F".

概要

This intermediate level course focuses on business presentation skills using business-related topics (financial and environmental fields). Students are expected to participate fully in all course learning activities via the course Moodle. Learning activities include: PowerPoint preparation with notes, presentation proposals, leadership and delegating group presentation roles, smart question skills, rhetorical skills, vocabulary and phrases structuring presentations, quoting sources (Harvard style) and using internet research effectively. Previous f2f students commented: "I could get high skill of presentation during this class." "It is obvious our presentation skills have grown".

目標

Learning what makes a good business/academic presentation. Adapting to the online environment for Zoom presentation. Faster presentation preparation with better use of available tools. Personalized step by step goals and self-reflection for individualized improvement Ability to prepare English presentations individually and in groups delegating work effectively. Critically research field-specific up-to-date business information using internet tools. Ability to present clearly and coherently in English using field-specific Economic terminology. Grading others with responsibility.

授業外の学習

Improve PPT techniques and research available online tools. Prepare 6-7 minute English presentation using PPT. Prepare 1 presentation proposal outline with summarized topic research data for consideration. Actively use Moodle to navigate classwork, completing assignments on time. Post in weekly discussion forums after careful consideration of module tasks, contributing to the learning environment for all students.

Introduction to course goals and study methods. Analysing what makes a good business presentation and setting up grading criteria for business presentation PPTs. The number of class sessions for each topic and the order may change according to the class/moodle progress during the semester.
Confidence and Conviction: Presentation Posture. Presentation Intro and Structure- key concepts. 12-slide format. Bi-weekly quiz.
Preparing Introductions and understanding Emotions.
Evaluating Topic proposals. Choosing a topic, narrowing the focus and refining the message. Getting the story right with problem-solution flow. Bi-weekly quiz.
Resource building, the importance of Glossary slides and researching current topics and case studies. Choosing a business article/ research paper to incorporate in your presentation. Streamlining ideas and highlighting relevance. Collating a Glossary of keywords to support target messaging.
Credibility: choosing quotes and sourcing for enhanced credibility. Working with numbers and charts to convey a key business message. Bi-weekly quiz.
Personalizing the message, meta-cognition and self reflection. Understanding how to present data with a message.
Smart question skills, rhetoric, vocabulary and phrases structuring presentation endings for content impact. Teamwork and delegating responsibility. Bi-weekly quiz.
Delivery and Rhetoric: Gesture/ Voice. Understanding delivery skills online and face-to-face. Linking your key message to business content with delivery.
Presenting online: reviewing key factors. Preparing an impactful 6-7minute PPT on an individually-chosen business topic with complete notes. Bi-weekly quiz.
