概要

Under the guidance of the instructor, the student conducts a research in organic chemistry and presents the result at the end of the semester. This course corresponds to the curriculum policy 2 and 3.

目標

At the end of the semester, students will be able to: 1. explain the history and the background of the research. 2. explain the research objectives 3. logically show the research results using schemes, figures, and tables 4. chemically evaluate the experimental results 5. propose a future work and a experimental plan 6. share a knowledge through discussions 7. elucidate problems and questions through discussions 8. discuss in a constructive way

授業外の学習

The students need to understand the research background by reading academic journals and books, to set a goal with a high originality, and to plan the experiments. They also need to prepare a presentation about their research. After each class, the students need to revise their slides and to do further literature search. Each class requires a 3.5 hours preparation and a 30 mins review.
