ACADEMIC WRITING II (PH.D.)

概要

The Academic Writing seminar has two parts: Academic Writing I and Academic Writing II. The first will be offered in the Spring Semester each year, and the second will be offered in the Autumn Semester each year. Academic Writing I provides the foundation for reviewing a range of research objectives and approaches, acquiring research and presentation skills, and will lead to a project/dissertation proposal. Academic Writing II will focus on conducting research and writing the master’s/doctoral thesis and an academic paper for conference presentation and/or for publication. This syllabus is for Academic Writing II. Students are expected to submit research progress reports and presentations, elaborate the literature review, pilot and/or commence data collection, write the thesis, and provide constructive feedback on each other's research. Please note that contents of this syllabus may be subject to change.

目標

1. Acquire competencies in academic research, writing and presentation. 2. Learn to use research artifacts critically. 3. Conduct major phases of the research towards completion of the master's program.

1. Write drafts of the thesis. 2. Present research progress reports. (2 hours) 3. Write a research paper for an oral or poster presentation at an academic conference.
