概要
This course introduces essential elements of international human rights, including declarations and conventions, the politics and important decision making, and the latest progresses and challenges in this field. The first half of the course presents important ideas of international human rights with a combination of lectures and in-class discussions. The latter half focuses on contemporary challenges, including guest lecture sessions, and students give presentations based on their individual research on specific topics relevant to human rights.
目標
Students will be able to discuss development and challenges of international human rights with reference to historical backgrounds and academic discussions as well as legal and political development of the issues.
授業外の学習
- Students are required to be ready for in-class discussion by reading and researching proactively (60-120 minutes). - After each session, students review the contents independently (60 minutes). - Before the presentation session, students study independently and prepare for their own talks outside of class (more than 3 hours). - In order to submit a final report, students continuously research every week (60 minutes).
