LIFE AND CULTURE IN AFRICA

概要

We have been exposed to the culture and customs of people living in different cultures through media such as television, movies and music. The media sometimes describe a culture different from ours as strange and funny, and can also be a device that creates discrimination and prejudice. People are surprised and confused when they see things they don't know, but there may be rational cultural rules behind seemingly unusual habits and lives. In this lecture, we will understand how to feel and see different cultures through anthropological fieldwork, that is to say a discipline that has considered humans, their culture and the way and diversity of society. Especially in this lecture, we will learn the logic of culture in various societies, using the keywords of actions performed by humans. In addition, I will introduce concrete examples of African societies including Cameroon of my field.
