概要
This course offers a fundamental knowledge of International Organization, with a focus on the United Nations (UN). It is divided into three main parts; peace and security, human rights, and development - the three founding pillars of the UN. Students will consider the roles of different actors, including state governments, international civil servants, and other non-state actors such as NGOs and experts in the three fields.
目標
By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the features of international organizations, especially the UN, its historical background, and organizational development, and the challenges of advancing multilateralism.
授業外の学習
Students are required to read assigned readings and prepare to discuss them. Useful websites, URLs, and information sources relevant to this course will be shared on Moodle. Students will (1) write a reaction paper at the end of each part, (2) write a reaction paper after a guest lecture, and (3) take an exam at the end of this course.
