概要

Calculus is a branch of mathematics that deals with change and motion. In its core, calculus revolves around the definition, analysis, and application of derivatives and integrals of functions. Calculus is a fundamentally important subject, and as such, it is widely used in a great variety of fields, including science, economics, or engineering, naming just a few. Students participating in this course are introduced to the essential concepts, techniques, and applications of calculus. Topics covered in the course include, but are not necessarily limited to: functions and limits, derivatives, integrals, and infinite series.

目標

By the end of the semester students should be able to meet the following objectives: i) Students should have acquired an understanding of the inherently dynamic nature of calculus. ii) Students should be familiar with elementary functions and basic differentiation and integration rules and techniques. iii) Students should be able to apply the various tools that calculus provides in order to solve given problems. iv) Students should have developed an appreciation of calculus that reaches out beyond their respective fields of study.
