概要

This is the intensive Japanese course designed for students who have some knowledge of basic grammar and have already been familiar with writing system: hiragana, katakana and approximately 100 basic kanji. It aims to further remaster basic functional grammar and develop language proficiency in Japanese, integrating four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing, in particular, strong emphasis is put on enhancing oral skills necessary for everyday life and communication. The course also involves a variety of oral practices and activities that focus on or include interaction with others in and out of class. Ten 100-minute classes a week.

目標

Students will be able to handle formal and informal situations such as giving advice, making an appointment, and asking someone out etc.; to be able to understand key ideas and supporting details of the reading passages; to be able to write coherent paragraphs in compositions and to be able to recognize and produce approximately 350 (cumulative 450) kanji toward the subsequent study of the intermediate level.

授業外の学習

Students are expected to do the following study outside of class per day (at least 180 minutes in total). ・Daily assignments and review (120 minutes). ・Preparation for kanji and vocabulary quizzes (30 minutes). ・Preparation for the next lesson (30 minutes). A reasonable amount of preparation time is also required for other occasional assignments such as grammar tests, kanji tests, oral tests, presentations and writing compositions.

所要時間: 90 minutes per class. This means a minimum of three hours per day as the intensive Japanese course consists of two classes per day.
