概要

This is the fourth level of Chinese Learning. This course focuses on the learning of intermediate level vocabulary, grammar, sentence structures, functions (such as making suggestions or talking about a past experiences), and on abilities to use language structures for daily life communication, also reviewing the knowledge and skills learned in Basic Chinese 1 ,2 and Intermediate 1. Similar to the previous level, the texts in the textbook use dialogue forms in order to continuously strengthen students’ speaking and listening competence. The contents of reading texts are expanded so as to develop the students’ reading comprehension. Moreover, we will use practice exercises to keep developing students’ four basic skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in Chinese. Furthermore, customs and cultures that are associated with the expressions and comprehension of Chinese will be introduced through the lessons. Students will be required to work in pairs and small groups most of the time, so active participation is required for the success of the class.

目標

The main functions and grammatical contents at the fourth level are:  How to emphasize the time and location of a past event with the construction "是……的"  Talking about the direction and location of a place  Describing a past experience by using the aspect particle"过"  How to make an appointment with someone  Expressing your own opinions (such as comments, suggestions and complaints) to others on various topics  Talking about some pleasant or unpleasant incidents that occurred in your daily life, such as holiday plans or accidents  Expressing an ongoing action with the adverb"正在"and talk about changes that have taken place in your life with the particle "了"

授業外の学習

Students need to spend the time for self-study (preview and review). Please have a look at the new vocabularies prior to class, in particular its meaning and pronounciation. Review the text, vocabulary, and exercises for each lesson using the audio data from the textbook. There is a Language Learning Commons(LLC) on the 1st floor of building 6. There are many books about learning Chinese, workbooks on Chinese proficiency tests, and Chinese movies. Please feel free to visit if you are interested in improving your Chinese.
