概要

You will work in groups with a refugee, each on a different refugee story with a different refugee narrator. You will research, plan and execute interviews. Then you will code transcripts and edit videos we already have. You will make your addition to our website: https://refugeevoicesjapannet.wordpress.com/ This course seem to have more work than some others. Also, the nature of the work is different. It is socially engaging and personally creative. Prerequisites: 1. A willingness to work directly with foreign refugees and/or immigrants. You will be working with actual people fleeing persecution and seeking asylum here in Japan. While most of the data will have already been collected, you will have to consult with your refugee narrators about the focus of your project. This will be the best part of the class. 2. Some familiarity the methods (video, podcast, or photography--I assume you all have writing ability, but the style of writing will be different from academic writing) or a strong willingness to learn it. We will have special lectures and workshops by outside professionals to help us develop these skills. 3. You should have some idea of and interest in the situation of refugees around the world and in Japan. If you do not, you should familiarize yourself with this before our first class. 4. You must be willing to work in groups, to take responsibility for the deadlines and workload as needed within the group. (If you have to be a "solo learner," this class is not for you.)

目標

You will learn how to do an literature review in order to select your topic; generate a research focus; learn video and audio production skills; preliminary post-production editing skills; lots of presentation and discussion practice.
